In February, Sweden’s Minister for Upper Secondary, Higher Education and Research, Lotta Edholm, visited KMH to discuss how music and teacher education can continue to maintain a high international standard.
The visit began in the King’s Hall, where the minister experienced a rehearsal by the KMH Symphony Orchestra under the direction of B. Tommy Andersson.
During the discussion, challenges such as international competition and the importance of good conditions for both teachers and students were highlighted. The increased funding per student is an important improvement, but it also affects the number of students that can be admitted to the programs.
The visit concluded with a look at Stockholm’s new Artistic Innovation Hub, a space where music, art, design, media, and performing arts can connect with industry and the public sector.
